Former NSW Blues coach Laurie Daley has had an embarrassing moment while trying to read a simple statement about women's State of Origin on live TV.

Canberra legend Daley was appearing on Fox Sports' Sunday Night With Matty Johns to deliver the best-value bets for the upcoming week of footy in his regular role with the program.

New South Wales are the favourites to win the decider in women's State of Origin series when the sides play on Thursday night, but the former footy star was unable to get that simple fact across without a bit of help.

He was meant to inform viewers that Queensland were paying $2.05 for the win, compared to NSW paying $1.77.

'New South Wales obviously have to travel up to North Queensland - they're $1.77 outsiders,' Daley told viewers incorrectly before realising his mistake.

Game three of the 2024 Women's State of Origin series kicks off on Thursday in Townsville (pictured,NSW star Kezie Apps is tackled in game two)

The conditions had made it difficult for the Sky Blues to activate their all-star outside backline, which had been key to victory in the series opener.

'To explain it to everyone,I was saying we were literally pigs stuck in the mud,' Sergis said ahead of Thursday's decider in Townsville.

'That's what it felt like, running around, stomping and there was water coming to your thighs.

'I've never played in conditions like that before.'
