Theme park cable car plunges to the ground and narrowly avoids people below

A cable car from an amusement ride broke free and plunged to the ground as visitors nearby narrowly avoided being struck.

The accident happened at a fair in Ciudad del Carmen,Mexico,on Friday night during the event’s second day of activities.

Footage captured by an attendee showed the cabin moving unusually as it travelled along the ride before it suddenly detached from the structure and crashed down near another attraction.

People can be seen standing beneath the ride moments before the cabin falls,narrowly escaping being struck by the collapsing structure.

Official inspection measurements later revealed that the cabin fell from a height of 20 feet.
