Revealed: Man United break Premier League record as 2024/25 fixtures released... as Erik ten Hag's side host Fulham at Old Trafford on the opening day of the season

Jun 18, 2024 Manufacturing IDOPRESS

Manchester United will welcome Fulham to Old Trafford on the opening day of the 2024-25 season and will hope to dramatically improve on their showing last term.

The Red Devils dismal league campaign saw Erik ten Hag come close to losing his job in the United hot seat but he was ultimately spared by a combination of their FA Cup success and the currently uninspiring managerial market.

The Dutchman will be desperate to get off to a fast start and their fixtures - though challenging - provide a platform for the side to build the foundations of a successful season.

That opener against the Cottagers sees the club set a new record in the Premier League. Red Devils supporters have become accustomed to watching their side at Old Trafford on opening day.

And the 2024-25 will be the record-eighth time on the bounce that has happened.

8 - @ManUtd are the first side in the competition's history to begin a Premier League campaign with a home game in eight consecutive seasons. Advantage. #PLFixturesRelease

According to data from Opta,no team in Premier League history has had more opening day fixtures at home in successive seasons than United.

United's first real test will come on August 31 when they face Liverpool - who will be playing under their new manager Arne Slot following Jurgen Klopp's departure at the end of last season.

But it's the Christmas period that will have the United's fans looking through their fingers. The Red Devils will travel to Arsenal,Manchester City and Liverpool in the space of a month.

Ten Hag's side close out their campaign with the visit of Aston Villa on May 25.

Elsewhere,in getting handed opening day clashes against Ipswich and Leicester,Liverpool and Tottenham have also set a new Premier League record. No other sides have played new entrants to the league more often in opening matches.
