Neighbours living on a road littered with illegal parking have blamed shoppers for clogging up their street.

Phillimore Road,in Saltley,Birmingham, was dubbed one of the 'worst' streets for parking - as locals described getting a space as 'gold dust'.

Dozens of fines were slapped on cars that had been dumped on the street during the Easter weekend - and four more during the recent Bank Holiday.

Now,disgruntled neighbours say the issue has been gradually getting worse, pinning the blame on shoppers, residents with more than one car,and parents doing the school run.

Zobina,an NHS worker who has lived on the street for 20 years, said parking is 'very limited'.

She told MailOnline: 'We've got social housing, with no driveways, some council houses and the rest are private. I myself only have one car,but you've got families with three or four cars.'

It comes after neighbours on a street in Sheffield spoke of the difficulty in finding a parking space outside their homes, often due to commuters and parents picking up their children from school.

One neighbour posted a 94-word rant on a 'commuter's' car, which described the driver as 'selfish' and cheap'.

The letter went viral online and sparked huge debate as to whether the driver was within their rights to leave their car on the road.

Posting the pictures on X,Washwood Heath Police said: 'Phillimore Road. Tickets issued to the registered keepers of these vehicles for obstructing the public highway.

'An expensive parking ticket when they could have found appropriate parking for free.'
