Nicole Kidman was seen arriving in Venice on Saturday to collect her prestigious Film Festival award - just hours before confirming her beloved mother Janelle had sadly died.
The actress, 57,was being awarded the Best Actress actress accolade for her role in Babygirl that night but ended up not being in attendance for the event after the family passing.
Instead,her director Halina Reijn read a statement from the actor,revealing that Nicole's mother Janelle died at the age of 83 while she was in Venice.
And just hours before the announcement of her mother's death she arrived in Venice looking in good spirits.
She wore a smart light grey suit which she teamed with a plane white T-shirt,cap and dark shades.

Nevertheless,it is a smart,with first-class support from Banderas (who has spent most of his career being absolutely nobody's idea of a cuckold).
As for the almost-unmentionable,the alleged cosmetic work that sometimes seems to have limited Kidman's range of expressions from A only to about D,that is cleverly woven into the narrative. Romy is clearly the kind of woman who would make a friend of Botox.
On the subject of injections,for the rest of us here in Venice,after some so-so early films,Babygirl has given us just the shot of adrenaline we required.
